A “hip hop” debut for Kim

ABS-CBN Star Magic jewel Kim Chiu celebrates her debut on April 26 at The Glass Garden. She will be wearing Sketchers rubber shoes with her powder pink formal gown as designed by Francis Libiran. (Francis, BTW, designed Anne Curtis award-winning knee-length gown at the First Star Magic Ball.) And Kim is not the only one who’s doing the same but the Star Magic boys and girls (mostly housemates from “Pinoy Big Brother”) who will make up her entourage. There’s no Cotillion as Kim’s wanted. In its place, there will be a lot of current dances with Kim’s four brothers doing a special dance number. Her father and love tandem Gerald Anderson will be her last dance although Kim is not ready to say who among them will be the “last-last” dance.

According to Kim, “Dati pinapanood ko lang sa TV ang mga debut ng mga artista at dreaming na ako ‘yon. Kaya naman this is really a dream come true for me. Para talagang fairy tale!” She will be wearing two other dresses designed by Francis. The sumptuous food will be catered by Hizon’s and the venue will be beautified by Lily Flower Boutique. Souvenirs will be from Charms and Crystals. The debut will be the main feature of the television special “My Girl Turns 18” which will be aired by ABS-CBN on May 4, Sunday, at 9:30 p.m. It will also feature Kim’s return to Cebu last weekend when she traced her past, showing people and places important to her during pre-fame days.
